Bake Sale Flop Candy Sale Hop

So today we had our bake sale and candy sale for Jeremiah! :) The Bake Sale was basically a flop. I mean we sold some things but not very well. I have LEARNED quite a bit about having a bake sale in May in Louisiana HEAT! NO FROSTING! The cookies sold great, the fruit breads (blueberry, strawberry, etc. sold wonderfully) and the brownies and brownie cakes were scooped up in a flash but the frosted cakes did not do so well after about an hour into it. We sold a few but not too many. I had many asking for pumpkin bread, pound cake and regular bread. SOOOO, we will have another bake sale at some point but it will be fruit breads, nut breads, brownies and brownie cakes, cookies, and non sweet breads. (HENCE I have to learn to make some from scratch without my bread machine. I fear those would not sell as the bread machine makes them very hard on the oustide. WHY does it do that? humm anyway... the bake sale part did not do well, But OH MY the candy sales were HOPPIN! :) We had 2 different fundraising packs, one had snickers, M & M's peanut, M & M's plain, skittles, and something else, and then the other was wonka candies, like nerds, nerd ropes, fun dips, and a couple other things. We sold both of those out and Bobby had to run back in and buy a box of M & M's to sell for the last hour! Anyway, AFTER all expenses were paid, we had a profit of $165.56!!!! :) Not bad from 9:15 am till 4 pm! :) On top of our lovely profit I have a Lobster look to sport for Mother's Day! I burn so easy and FORGOT sunscreen cuz I wasn't goin swimming did not think about it! Here are some pictures for your enjoyment!

Here is a shot of the table and the banner we have! :)

Happy Mother's Day! Isn't this TX/LA heat unusually hot already for May or WHAT?? Praise God for nearly $200! Noah is so grown up looking with that haircut! My he is handsome! We are having a garage sale Th-Fr. We need to raise $500 before we send off everything to USCIS. This fundrasising keeps us clsoer to the Lord doesn't it? I am grateful for these struggles. Now I am truly understanding what James means when he says to be joyful during all trials! God is our TRUE provider : ) Thanks for sharing your journey. Oh, and I got an AWFUL sunburn our 1st garage sale. I didn't even think about it b/c I was in the shade! BIG mistake!!

A suggestion for your bake sale. You mentioned that the bread machine makes the loaves too hard. You can use the bread machine to make your dough, then take it out before it starts baking. (Mine has a setting for just dough-making). Then, shape the loaf, put it in a greased loaf pan & bake it in your oven. That way, you can use a recipe you're used to, get the ease of the bread machine, but the "yumminess" of oven baked bread.

Hope your fundraising goes great so you can bring him home soon!

Kisses in the Wind

KISSES IN THE WIND
I hold you in my heart and touch you in my dreams.
You are here each day with me, at least that's how it seems.

I know you wonder where we are... what's taking us so long.
But remember child, I love you so and God will keep you strong.

Now go outside and feel the breeze and let it touch your skin...Because tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God hold you in His hand until I can be with you.
I promise you, my darling, I'm doing all that I can do.

Very soon, you'll have a family for real, not just pretend. But for tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God wrap you in His arms and hold you very tight.
And let the angels bring the kisses that I sent to you each night.

When Love Takes You In!
